Many Jewish women consider abortion because they lack the emotional, financial, or social support they would need to carry a pregnancy to term—especially when facing a crisis.
At SHIFRA, we’re here to help you explore your options with support, not pressure. When you speak with one of our counselors, you gain a clearer understanding of your situation and access to personalized services that may open new possibilities.
Who Provides Counseling?
SHIFRA counselors are licensed professionals—not volunteers. Each has a master’s degree or higher in clinical social work or psychology and maintains a private practice. Their services are offered free of charge through your baby’s first birthday.
We understand that the decision to continue or terminate a pregnancy is rarely simple. Many clients face pressure or complex challenges, and no single conversation can resolve everything. That’s why your SHIFRA counselor remains available to you throughout your journey, should you choose to continue your pregnancy. After birth, we also offer a lifetime of ongoing parenting classes and support groups.
How SHIFRA Supports Women in Crisis:
- Counseling — compassionate, professional support
- Financial Assistance — tailored help to relieve pressure
- Referrals — to trusted community and clinical resources
- Lifetime Parenting Support — classes, groups, and connections
For many women, these services provide enough support to feel confident continuing their pregnancy—when abortion once seemed like the only option.
