Orit’s story is one of pain, resilience, and ultimately, hope.
Years ago, just six months after her second child was born, Orit found herself facing an unexpected pregnancy. She wasn’t religious at the time, and her financial situation felt overwhelming and impossible. With limited support and few resources, she made a choice to terminate her pregnancy and have an abortion that left her with deep grief. For more than a decade, she carried the weight of loss from that experience.
Sadly, Orit’s story is not unique. Many women who face unplanned pregnancies feel cornered by circumstances—financial pressures, lack of support, or emotional overwhelm—that make their path forward feel impossibly narrow.
That’s where SHIFRA steps in. Our mission is to offer women in crisis a compassionate alternative—layers of love, resources, and unwavering support. By surrounding mothers with care, we help lift the burden of isolation and despair so they don’t have to face those impossible choices alone.
Today, Orit’s life looks very different. She has become a Rebbetzin and now spends her days empowering women through emunah (faith) and energy healing. Having walked through her own season of struggle, she now finds deep purpose in guiding others—ensuring that women in crisis receive the help, hope, and support they need.
At SHIFRA, we believe every woman deserves to feel safe, supported, and cared for when navigating the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy. If you or someone you know is struggling with this kind of crisis, know that you are not alone. Visit callshifra.org to find support, resources, and a community ready to stand with you.
